About Aonang

Ao Nang is situated along Phra Nang Bay, named after an ancient mythical Thai Goddess. Once a fishing village, Ao Nang is now a major city beach and travel destination in its own right catering for foreign and local tourists. Ao Nang’s main feature is a long white sandy beach with crystal clear water with a dramatic backdrop of limestone cliffs. Tourists come here for a full range of activities such as diving, kayaking, rock climbing and trekking. Less developed than other beaches in Thailand, Ao Nang none the less offers guesthouses and resorts that fit any budget. The beach enjoys a vibrant nightlife which includes excellent seafood restaurants dotted along the beach and some bars that offer live music. Ao Nang has numerous agencies were it is possible to arrange trips to attractions and activities available in the vicinity. Bird watching is a favourite in the area, as are jungle treks and boats to neighboring islands. Diving is another popular activity and diving agencies in the area can arrange dives for all levels. They also offer liveaboard trips that take in the local islands. Day trips are relatively inexpensive.

How to get to Ao Nang : Taxi from the airport to Ao Nang are available and cost around 1000 Baht. Long tail boats run seasonally from Krabi town to Ao Nang. Songteaws from Krabi are also availablet during the day.
